ABOUT

Jecca’s first single “Concrete”,  captured the feelings of many people who move to cities like New York to start a new life. Her follow-up single, "Til I Drown" celebrates the inner strength we can call on to overcome the challenges around us.

Born in Dublin Ireland in 2006, Jecca’s family made the decision to move to the US for work in 2011, eventually settling in NYC which drew them in with a combination of work opportunity and a vibrant arts community.

As timing had it, they moved to the city just as the pandemic took hold.  Day after day in her room during lockdown, Jecca’s creativity and curiosity led to her musical vision being realized very quickly. From an early age she had music and singing in her life but during lockdown, she taught herself guitar from youtube lessons and started writing songs in reaction to what she was feeling: she had always been on the move but now had come to a standstill in the city that was supposed to never sleep but was deadly quiet except for the never-ending sirens.

“Songwriting became my way of processing things in my life - and expressing myself in a way helped me feel normal ” says Jecca.

NYC has always had a love affair with Irish singers, poets, and writers - now Jecca has quickly come to the attention of the NYC music scene. Currently working with ace NYC producer/songwriter Matt Anthony (Darius Rucker, Train, Shinedown, Disney, Def Jam) and renowned songwriter Devyn Rush (John Legend, Sergio Mendes, Herb Alpert), Jecca has a full album and videos in the works.

HOMAGE TO MY IRISH ROOTS

Phil Lynott statue in Dublin, Ireland

The first time I went out after the COVID lockdown was to Gov Ball at Citifield in New York.  It was strange but also amazing to be on the subway with so many people going to the concert. I started singing to the tune of Irish legendary rock band Thin Lizzy's classic song 'The Boys are Back in Town'

Later, I recorded a version of the song that came to me that evening, just to share here on my website exclusively. It's an homage to Phil Lynott and the band who have inspired generations of musicians worldwide. It's about the boys and girls being back in town, going to the concert on a Friday night, finally out on the other side of the crazy lockdown.

Speaking of crazy, why is Thin Lizzy not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

The picture is of me in Dublin recently with a statue of the late Phil Lynott. There are always flowers on this statue, laid by fans every day.

Inspired by Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy. It starts like this and just wait for the guitar riff ......

"Guess who just got back today? -The girls and boys that had been away -It’s all changed, it’s a new day -Out on the other side of crazy

They’ve been asking when we’d be around -Outside became a foreign town -Stuck at home, going round and round
